Fiberlink and CFO Research Study Reveals: IT and Finance Need to Collaborate to Control Growing Costs of Mobile Workers

IT and finance departments need to work together more rigorously to manage costs associated with a growing number of mobile workers, according to a recent survey conducted by CFO Research Services and Fiberlink Communications Corp. Almost 85 percent of IT managers and 70 percent of finance executives say they expect to support more mobile workers in two years -- demanding secure mobile network access to corporate networks, applications and data from outside the office through laptops, tablet computers and PDAs. Over half of IT respondents say that finance has adequate information about mobile and remote access costs; however, only 18 percent of finance respondents agreed that their departments have adequate information about these same costs. In fact, 47 percent of finance respondents actively disagreed with the statement that finance at their companies has adequate information about mobile and remote access costs. An analysis by enterprise website spell checking platform spellr.us has revealed that on average, 14.2% of web pages on the world's most prestigious university websites contain at least one genuine spelling error.

The annual spellr.us Higher Education Online Content Survey found that these spelling mistakes ranged from obscure, easy to overlook slip-ups to obvious and embarrassing blunders.

The word "university", for example, was misspelled by 13 of the world's top 20 educational institutions. Other significant errors included Harvard Law School's misspelling of "professor" on a primary navigation menu, and Ivy League neighbour Yale University's misspelling of "Yale University" (see attached images)....
